In 1982, the Engineering Centre of La Plata asked me to commemorate the centennial of the city, with the erection of a monument-fountain in one of the parks at the accesses to it, at Argentina Av. and Antarctica Av. 7. On this occasion I brought back the topic of a steel tower light as a sort of archetype of civilization, which I had already introduced a decade earlier in the Torre de Agua Móvil (Moving Water Tower) but with greater proportions and repeating the theme in different scales, in a sort of visual polyphony. At the same time, trying to represent La Plata as a lighthouse of political irradiation and cultural life of the province. Therefore, the name: Faro de la Cultura (Lighthouse of Culture).

In the opening's official ceremony, in which La Plata's authorities accepted the donation of the work, we proceeded to bury on the basis of the work a message intended to be opened in the year 2082, one hundred years after the event.

That message was an attempt to summarize my outlook on life and art and the audacity to try to imagine how the world will be within the next one hundred years, trying to send a valid message for that moment.
