Premio Bienal Kosice

El Jueves 27 de agosto se lanzará la convocatoria del Premio Bienal KOSICE, Agua, Luz y Movimiento, organizado por la galería Objeto a. Contanto con la curadoría de Graciela Taquini, el objetivo será promover la producción de obras artísticas que incorporen nuevas tecnologías y traten lo hídrico, lo lumínico y lo cinético.

La semana pasada llevé acabo una intervención urbana donde pegué en el barrio porteño de Almagro el siguiente afiche:

Este tipo de intervenciones están precedidas por los 150 metros de lluvia de la calle Florida, en 1968 (donde dispuse de lluvia artificial) y la Marcha Madí, marcha apolítica conmemorando los 60 años del Arte Madí, en 2006. El afiche es una propuesta alternativa en contra de la espectacularización de la política y a favor de su hidraulización. Es decir, imbuir de la impronta del poder vital y estético del agua a la política, el arte y la vida. Last week I pasted this poster in the surrounding streets of my Museum. This kind of Urban Interventions are preceded by the 150 meters of Rain at Florida Street (1968) and the Madi Walk (2006, commemorating the 60th aniversary of Madi Art). The poster is an alternative proposal against the spectacularization of politics and in favor of its hydraulization. That is, to embed the vital and aesthetic power of water to politics, art, and life.

La Ciudad Hidroespacial en el Museum of Fine Arts of Houston (Texas)

Se inauguró la muestra North Looks South en el Museum of Fine Arts of Houston (Texas, EE.UU.). En ella, la Ciudad Hidroespacial será la principal protagonista.

Estará presentada por un conjunto de maquetas, lugares para vivir, constelaciones, fotomontajes, dibujos y textos. Asimismo, se prevé la construcción de una sala especial para hospedar la totalidad de las obras de la Ciudad Hidroespacial, que el Museo ha decidido adquirir. Las obras tendrán ahora un espacio de expresión propio y dedicado. Agradezco especialmente a Mari Carmen Ramírez por su intervención. On June 7th the exhibit North Looks South, at the Museum of Fine Arts of Houston was inaugurated. The Hydrospatial City was the main piece. The MFAH will be the first museum to display this immense work in its entirety. The installation, to be presented in a 200-square-foot room, demonstrates my vision for the future: space architecture for a new, utopian civilization. There will be a galaxy of clear plastic mobiles that dangles from the ceiling. The installation also includes a manifesto, fifteen drawings, sketches, photos, and more. The MFAH has recently offered me to purchase the totality of the works that conform the Hydrospatial City. Now, it will have a new dedicated space, maximizing the work's expression. I specially thank Mari Carmen Ramirez for her help and intervention.

Exposición en Galería Zurbarán

El 27 de Abril se inaugurará en Galería Zurbarán (Cerrito 1522) una muestra con mis obras más recientes, de pequeño, mediano y grande formato. Será la primera vez que la galería expone un artista abstracto. On april 27th the exposition "Gyula Kosice, recent works" will be inaugurated. The place is Zurbaran Gallery, Cerrito 1522. It will be the first time that an abstract artist is exhibiting in this gallery.

Exposición "El Futuro ya no es lo que era"

El 26 de marzo quedó inaugurada la muestra "El Futuro ya no es lo que era", en la Fundación OSDE, curada por Rodrigo Alonso, en la cual fui artista invitado. The 26 of March was the inauguration of the exhibit "The Future is not what it used to", at OSDE's Foundation, organized by Rodrigo Alonso, in wich I was the invited artist. Muestra en la Fundación OSDE

El 26 de Marzo próximo se inaugurará en la Fundación OSDE (Suipacha 658 1º Piso, Buenos Aires) la muestra colectiva El Futuro ya no es lo que era, en la que soy artista invitado. Estaré exponiendo cuatro obras de la Ciudad Hidroespacial. La muestra, cuya curaduría está a cargo de Rodrigo Alonso, estará abierta hasta el 30 de Mayo y puede ser visitada lunes a sábado de 12 a 20hs, con entrada gratuita. On March 26th the exhibition The Future is not what it used to will be open for public at OSDE Foundation (Suipacha 658 1º Piso, Buenos Aires), in wich I'm the invited artist. There will be four works representing the Hydrospatial City. The exhibit, cured by Rodrigo Alonso, will be open mondays to saturdays from 12 to 20hs, free entry. Closing the 30th of May.

Nos visitan

El viernes pasado visitaron el museo chicos del Instituto Vocacional de Arte Manuel de Labardén. Past friday the kids of Instituto Vocacional de Arte Manuel de Labardén came to visit the museum.

Premios Konex

La Fundación Konex ha publicado recientemente un imponente libro recopilando la historia de los premios a lo largo de sus sucesivas entregas. En 1982 recibí el Premio Konex de Platino a las artes visuales: En el 2002 se me fue entregado el Diploma al Mérito de Escultura, por la producción del quinquenio 1992-1996. Para más información, entrar aquí. The Konex Foundation has recently published an impressive book with the history of the Konex prizes throughout its numerous editions. In 1982 I recieved the Platinum Konex Prize for visual arts. In 2002 I recieved the Merit Dimploma, for the production of sculptures during 1992-1996.

Noche de los Museos

Al principio tímidamente, luego con más fuerza, el museo recibió un caudal de visitantes muy intenso. En la Noche de los Museos, hemos recibido a los espectadores con visitas guiadas y proyección de videos.

Planeta AGUA!!

El día seis de octubre se realizó en el Planetario de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires un evento con motivo de la resignificación de la Tierra por Planeta Agua. En el mismo evento se realizó un acto homenaje a mi trayectoria.
